Echoes of Extraction
The artwork presents a cluster of tree trunks, immersed in a thick, black substance – possibly tar, oil, or another organic material. The form of nature, exposed and distorted, bears the weight of human intervention. The flows of the viscous black residue do not merely coat the materiality of the wood; they penetrate and distort it, suggesting a slow process of decay.
The posture of the trunks resembles human figures in collapse or silent protest, intensifying the sense of loss and the persistent presence of existence. The organic core of nature is transformed into a site of testimony or memory: something that once lived, now resists oblivion through the very matter that corrodes it.
The work narrates a violent dialogue: between natural wealth and human greed. Every crack, every drop of black substance, records the impact of developmental arrogance on the natural ecosystem.
It serves as a reminder of the fragility of life itself, and at the same time, of its enduring strength – even when hope seems to have vanished.
